Titanium started to be used readily in the early 1950s when two important alloys were developed. It’s strength and corrosion resistance, combined with the fact that it has a density of 55% of steel, make it excellent for a variety of uses and lightweight alloys. Aerospace and jet engine components and golf clubs are just a few of its applications. It is suited for surgical implants and prosthetic devices because of its resistance to corrosion. It often forged and can be cold formed.
